One of the charities that I'm supporting was Reef to Ridge in La Union, Philippines.
La Union is a small strip of land bounded on the west by the sea and on the east by the foothills of the Cordillera range. The ecological tenet affirms: All things are connected. Thus whatever happens in the mountains affects the plains and seas. Whatever happens in the plains and seas impacts on the mountains and hill.
Coastal La Union has rich natural resources that can be maximized to provide food on the table of farmers, fisherfolk, women, elderly and children who are considered vulnerable to climate change.

At some points in La Union it's barely 50 kilometres from the surfer's sea to the climber's Cordilleras. From the beach we can see the mountains, blue and hazy in the distance, while waves from the West Philippines Sea lap up over our feet.
It's not hard at all to realise that we are all connected...from #RidgeToReef. Not just in the lay of the land, but in the flow of water, and the activity of people.
Age-old knowledge and traditions connect generations, trade and commerce connect highlanders with coastal-dwellers, and townsfolk with their rural cousins.
Ideas help create new tribes, new communities.
The #RidgeToReef Community Market serves to highlight this interconnectedness. We do this by supporting producers, craftsmen, and tradesmen who respect and thrive on it.
Local wares, organic and wholesome produce, and more will be present at the market this weekend. There will also be workshops and performances, documentary viewings and wellness activities.
We are starting small, as we always have, but we promise to be a fun, enriching, inclusive experience for all involved.
...
Hoping to have all of you join us in being part of many more Ridge To Reef activities to come.
